| Are all Coastal Pediatric physicians board certified? |
Yes. Each of the Coastal Pediatric Associates physicians is a Diplomat of the American Board of Pediatrics (www.aap.org) and is reexamined at regular intervals to retain board certification.

| Are you still affiliated with MUSC Children’s Hospital? |
Yes! We are still affiliated with the MUSC Children’s Hospital and are pleased to offer many benefits to our patients that result from this affiliation. All Coastal Pediatric Associates physicians are on the clinical teaching faculty at the Children’s Hospital and we will continue to work closely with the hospital physicians and residents to provide our patients with the most state-of-the-art medical care.

| Do you still take my insurance? |

| Where do you admit your patients? |
If your child needs to be admitted to the hospital, we will admit him or her to the MUSC Children’s Hospital. We feel that this facility provides the most comprehensive care for the pediatric patient. As all Coastal Pediatric Associates physicians maintain MUSC Children’s Hospital admitting privileges, we will be able to closely monitor your child and work with the hospital staff to ensure the best possible care.

| Why won’t you see my newborn at Trident or Summerville Regional? |
At this time CPA physicians do not have admitting privileges at these hospitals. We will be happy to see your newborn at Roper Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, East Cooper Regional Medical Center, and MUSC. If for varying reasons you need to deliver at Trident or Summerville Regional we will be happy to assist you in finding a pediatrician who can see you newborn in the hospital and then, upon discharged, we can assume the medical care of your baby.

| In which area hospitals do you round for newborn care? |
Coastal Pediatric Associates physicians have admitting privileges at Roper Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, East Cooper Regional Medical Center, and MUSC.

| Why do you recommend going to the MUSC Children’s ER? |
The people of Charleston are very fortunate to have such a wonderful resource in the MUSC Children’s Emergency Department. This facility is fully staffed with pediatric providers who are trained to deal with any childhood emergency. As you are probably aware, our MUSC Children’s Emergency Department was ranked as one of the top 10 pediatric ED’s in the nation by Child Magazine. As such, we will continue to direct all after-hours emergencies to our colleagues at MUSC.

| I would like to choose one of your doctors as my new baby’s pediatrician. Should I schedule a prenatal visit? |
Although a prenatal appointment is certainly not required, it is a great way to get to know your baby’s pediatrician prior to delivery. This visit will give you the opportunity to discuss concerns and to get answers to any questions that you may have. Just give the office a call and we will be happy to set this up for you.

| Why should my child see a pediatrician? |
Pediatricians are uniquely trained to deal with the medical conditions of childhood. Each CPA physician is Pediatric Residency trained and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Furthermore, our pediatricians are all Diplomats of the American Board of Pediatrics (www.aap.org) and are reexamined at regular intervals to retain board certification.

| When should my child stop seeing a pediatrician? |
Board-certified pediatricians are extensively trained in the medical conditions of newborns, infants, toddlers, children, adolescents and young adults. In addition to the evaluation and treatment of health problems, CPA providers have expertise in the areas of Preventative Medicine and Anticipatory Guidance associated with these age groups.
Coastal Pediatric Associates offers a primary care "medical home" for all patients from birth to 22 years of life. At that time, we work closely with these young adults to help transition them to the most appropriate adult-care providers based on their medical needs.

| When should my child have his first dental exam? |
The American Dental Association recommends that children should have their first dental exam by 2 years of age. Charleston has many wonderful dentists that are trained to treat children and the unique problems that can arise in the pediatric population.

| I have a question about my bill? |
Should you ever have a question regarding your bill, please do not hesitate to call or email the office. It is our desire to facilitate an open line of communication between families and the office. | Do you charge for evening triage phone calls? |
Pediatricians and parents both know that kids are predictably unpredictable! Illnesses often arise during the evening and emergencies can happen at any hour. The physicians of Coastal Pediatric Associates are committed to providing continuous care. Therefore, Coastal Pediatric Associates is pleased to provide evening triage calls free of charge. You can call at any hour and speak to a pediatric nurse and, if needed, one of the physicians from Coastal Pediatric Associates is available every night of the week. However, we do ask that you utilize this service for illnesses and emergencies and not for things that can wait for when the office opens the following morning.

| Is your office open on the weekends? |
We have Saturday morning office hours by appointment in our West Ashley office. Appointments are scheduled by our after-hours nursing staff once the office closes on Friday.

| How does you office handle "walk-in" patients? |
In an ongoing effort to honor scheduled appointment times, the physicians at Coastal Pediatric Associates have developed a policy regarding "walk-in" patient encounters. Patients who come to the office without a scheduled appointment time will be offered the following:
- A same day appointment time with the first available provider.
- A different day appointment time with a specific provider.
- Triage by our clinical staff
- An emergency appointment if our clinical staff determines that your child needs to be evaluated by a provider immediately. Please note that emergency services charges will be applied to your encounter.

| Will my child see his primary doctor for all visits? |
You may always schedule appointments with your primary doctor. However, in order to see your sick child quickly, sick visits are often scheduled with the CPA physician that has the next available appointment time.
